As I look back at all of the albums from last fall's sessions, I am quickly realizing that at the rate I am going, I will never catch up with blogging all of these amazing families! If you had told me just over a year ago when we moved back to Greenville, that I would have TOO many sessions to blog...I would have laughed in your face. Building my photography business over the last 8 years has been challenging. Matthew's job has moved us every 3 years. And, with each move, I have to start all over again building a client base. Each time we get the relocation news, I feel like I was JUST starting to catch my stride. I knew coming back to Greenville I had friends that I hoped would use me. But, I also was well aware of the fact that for the previous 6+ years they had found other photographers to use while I wasn't around. I value client loyalty and would not fault even a close friend for remaining loyal to a photographer who had been documenting their family from the beginning. Not to mention that this is a tough market to break into. There are a TON of extremely talented photographers here in the Greenville area. How in the world would I compete with them?
And, although I can use all of the moving as a really great excuse, I also have a really hard time putting myself out there. I am the worst at self-promotion. I will be having a perfectly nice conversation with a pregnant woman, and it would be (ahem, SHOULD be) oh-so easy to casually drop in the fact that I am a photographer specializing in newborn photography...but I can't. I just can't make myself bring it up. Definitely something I need to work on in 2017!
When thinking about what I wanted my business to become, there was a lot of praying and trusting that God would put me where I needed to be... if this was His path for me. And, goodness, I feel like He has delivered! The neighborhood we built in has been amazing in growing my business. My neighbors have been so supportive in not only using me, but sending referrals my way. What a blessing they have been! (and not just for business...I truly LOVE our neighborhood. Some of my closest friends live around me, and that is a pretty great feeling!)
So I decided that I needed to make one HUGE blog post with some of my favorite images from these wonderful fall sessions. I tried to choose just one image from each session, but that was impossible. And, you guys, I have to tell you that my heart is so full as I look back through these sessions. Thank you so much to each and every family that trusted me to capture your family this past year. I hope that your session with me was an enjoyable experience, and I look forward to working with your family in the future!
