Ahhhh! This was a special wedding for me! My little cousin is now a married lady!
I am not sure where to even begin with this blog, because there was so much family time wrapped up into our trip down to New Orleans for McKenzie and Brad's wedding.
From the family dinners to walking around New Orleans to beignets at Cafe du Monde...oh the beignets...our 4 days in New Orleans were a blast!
But, of course, the highlight of the weekend, was the wedding! I admit, I was a bit worried that I wouldn't get to truly enjoy the ceremony and reception because I would be working behind the camera the entire time. However, I feel so honored that McKenzie trusted me to be her photographer, and being up front & center to witness the entire day...there is no where I would have rather been! (Although I do wish I had gotten to enjoy more of the food...the bites here and there between shooting were DELICIOUS. But, in reality, my waistline probably appreciates the fact that I wasn't able to get seconds of the shrimp etouffee...)
Because of the time of the wedding (7:30pm), McKenzie and Brad decided to do a First Look at a nearby park. After the First Look, we were able to take all of the bridal party portraits, as well as the majority of the family pictures. The entire bridal party were such troupers! It was a lot of pictures all at once, but it meant that after the ceremony they could all go straight to enjoying the party!!
It will be no surprise to hear that in the middle of June, in Louisianna, it was hot and HUMID. But, we got so lucky with the weather! The entire time I was doing the detail pictures, there was ominous thunder booming in the distance. I was checking my radar constantly and could see the storms heading straight for us. We didn't really have a great rain back up plan for portraits, so I was getting nervous. But, miracles of miracles, the clouds parted just as they got to us!!! AND, we were blessed with glorious overcast skies that made the portraits a bit muggy, but bearable.
Congratulations again to McKenzie and Brad! And, Brad, welcome to our crazy family!!! Your wedding was so much fun! And, I loved learning all of the local wedding traditions- from the cake pull to the Second Line Exit, it was all so much fun! We definitely "laissez les bon temps rouler"!
*There is a special bonus at the end of this post for those who make it through all of the pictures! ;)*
You made it to the end! And, now the added bonus I promised. Our grandfather was unable to make the trip from Atlanta to New Orleans for the wedding. We missed him terribly, but he was still able to be part of McKenzie's big day. Take a listen and see how! (Fair warning, this recording has been known to induce crying, even for perfect strangers!)
Thank you to all of the vendors for your part in making McKenzie and Brad's day perfect!
