Thoughtful Thursday: Letters to Jacob

May 26, 2011

Dear Jacob,

You turned 6 months old this week. You are getting to be such a big boy! I love getting to spend my days with you. When your dad and I moved to France, we decided that we would wait to start our family until we moved back to the US. God had other plans for us. He had you. And we are so thankful He chose us to be your parents. I feel so blessed that I didn't have to go back to work after a short maternity leave. We have had 6 whole months together!

Everyday, you discover something new and exciting. Recently you discovered your toes. It is one of the cutest things to see you try to put them in your mouth. Although there are times, like when I am changing your diaper or feeding you, when sucking on your toes makes my job a lot harder! And although you aren't crawling yet, you have gotten really good at scooting, sliding, and rolling to get where you want to go. When your dad and I go get you up in the morning, it is always funny to see where in your crib you have managed to get to. I love how easy you are to put down for naps. Everyday, I read you a book and lay you down. You reach up and wait for me to give you your cuddle bear, you wrap your arms around him, roll over onto your side, and suck on your thumb. I cover you with a blanket and walk out the door. And you always wake up so happy! I love leaning down over your crib and seeing your big gummy smile.

Thank you for making me smile everyday. I love you, sweet boy!
